Description
FINAL thing from last semester. The photograph of it is not so good, unfortunately... loses a bit of the line integrity on the fine detailing.
This was our drawing intensive self portrait final homework assignment. Waist up, around life-size. This is larger than life size, two sheets of that blue paper taped together. Done entirely from observation, no photo references.
I was pretty happy with it and it got a pretty good response... now we'll see what happens for our self portrait final painting assignment
White and black charcoal pencils and compressed charcoal on toned paper. Lots and lots of time, I have no idea how long it took anymore.
Amusing anecdote about it: We unveiled the pieces at one of our final classes, and when we got to critiquing mine, one of the girls said, "its not right, the proportion..." so I asked her what was wrong about it, of course.
She responds "Well it looks right... but too skinny..."
To which I burst out laughing as I remembered that I had never worn any relatively tight attire in the presence of anyone at school, so I responded "Well you just haven't seen me in a tanktop!" and pulled my baggy shirt tight around my body to prove my point, to everyone's amusement.
I was correct with my proportions.
